Nigerian Muslim Father Embraces Interfaith Marriage for Daughter
A Nigerian Muslim man, Taoheed Abdulwasiu Mustapha, has declared that any man interested in marrying his daughter is welcome to come forward, regardless of religious affiliation. In a Facebook post on Friday, June 26, 2026, Abdulwasiu stated that his only requirements are that suitors come from good families, possess good character, and have a decent means of livelihood.
Humanity as Core Value
According to Abdulwasiu, humanity is at the core of his values, and he refuses to embrace any interpretation of religion that teaches hatred based on faith differences. He wrote: 'If you're a Christian or a traditional believer and you're interested in asking for my daughter's hand in marriage, you're welcome to come forward. As long as you come from a good family, have good character, and have a decent means of livelihood, you have my respect. I will support you.'
Rejecting Religious Hatred
Abdulwasiu emphasized that his Muslim faith does not preclude him from treating others with dignity. He stated: 'I'm a Muslim, but humanity is at the core of my values. I refuse to embrace any interpretation of religion that teaches me to hate, despise, or attack people simply because they follow a different faith.' He pointed to geopolitical realities, noting that 'Saudi Arabia eats and dine with Israel and America....What's your own problem...? Nonsense.'
Call for African Unity
Concluding his post, Abdulwasiu urged Africans to prioritize humanity over religious divisions: 'To me, humanity comes before religious differences. If my way of life doesn't sit well with you, that's your choice. Go and hug the transformer. But no amount of criticism or threat to life will change my belief in treating people with dignity and respect. Africa, Wake Up.'
