Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has responded to a public apology offered by Pastor Chris Okafor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministry. While stating she has forgiven the cleric, Ogala firmly rejected his assertion that the allegations she made against him were false.
A Kneeling Apology and a Conditional Forgiveness
The drama reached a new peak during a Sunday service at Pastor Okafor's church, where he knelt before his congregation to ask for forgiveness. He addressed the ongoing issue with the actress directly, stating, "The lady called Doris Ogala. Listen, there have been ongoing issues, and mistakes have been made in the past. I want to apologise."
However, he immediately followed this by insisting the claims were untrue. "What was said is not true. Everything that was said, take note, was never true. There were so many lies in most of the things that were said," Okafor declared. He extended his apology broadly, adding, "But have I offended people? Yes. I am sorry to everyone I have offended. To Doris Ogala, I also say sorry."
Ogala reacted by sharing a video of this apology on her Instagram page. Her accompanying message drew a clear line: she accepted the apology but contested his version of events. "Chris Okafor, I forgive you, but there's a problem. Where you said everything is a lie, I have a problem with that because I don't lie," she wrote.
From Police Custody to Public Controversy
This exchange comes shortly after a turbulent period for the actress. Ogala was released from police custody on Monday, December 22, 2025, after being arrested the previous Saturday. Her arrest sparked significant online outcry, with many Nigerians calling for her freedom.
Upon her release, Ogala took to Instagram to thank those who intervened, specifically naming human rights activist Omoyele Sowore and social media commentator VeryDarkMan. Her post read, "Thank you, Sowore. Thanks so much to my ratel king."
The Root of the Feud: Allegations of Betrayal
The conflict between Ogala and Pastor Okafor erupted weeks earlier. It began when a video surfaced online showing Okafor's engagement to another woman. In response, Ogala made serious allegations, claiming she had been in a romantic relationship with the pastor since 2017.
She alleged that she left her previous marriage at his insistence and that he had repeatedly assured her of marriage. Feeling betrayed after years of intimacy, Ogala issued an ultimatum demanding he either marry her or provide financial compensation by purchasing a house for her.
The situation grew more complicated when images from Okafor's traditional marriage and white wedding ceremonies were shared online, seemingly contradicting his commitments to Ogala. The dispute intensified further when Ogala briefly posted, and then deleted, a private image allegedly showing the pastor in a bedroom setting.
Pastor Okafor concluded his public address by stating he was ready to make restitution and asked his church members for their forgiveness. As it stands, while Doris Ogala has verbally accepted his apology, her firm rebuttal of his 'lies' claim indicates this controversy may not be fully settled.
