The ongoing marital drama between Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has taken a new turn with the release of the actress's brother, Samuel 'Sammy West' Daniels, on bail.
This development comes after days of detention for Sammy West, whose arrest was allegedly instigated by the Senator. The situation has further deepened the public rift within the high-profile family.
Family Reacts with Gratitude and Accusations
Sammy West's elder brother, Lawrence Daniels, popularly known as Sweezy, confirmed the bail news in a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram story on Monday, November 10, 2025.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian public for their support, writing, "Sammy, you're a great man! Bail has been granted. Nigerians, thank you... On behalf of the Daniels family, I say thank you. Thank God say man no be God."
However, his appreciation was coupled with serious allegations against Senator Nwoko. Sweezy publicly accused the senator of being behind his brother's continued detention.
He claimed that Ned Nwoko influenced the case and paid the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to take custody of Sammy West after initial court proceedings. Lawrence insisted this move was against proper legal channels.
Legal Jurisdiction and Alleged Manipulation
Lawrence Daniels raised a critical point about the legal process, alleging a strategic manipulation by the senator.
"Ned has also paid NDLEA to have Sammy picked up into their custody," Sweezy alleged. "But a magistrate court does not have jurisdiction over drug-related cases, only a federal high court."
He further stated that the matter might be transferred to the Federal High Court, claiming this was all a calculated part of Ned Nwoko's plan to prolong the legal ordeal for his brother.
Nwoko's Defence on Age and Marriage Allegations
Amid these fresh accusations, Senator Ned Nwoko has been actively defending himself against other longstanding claims. He recently addressed the viral narrative that he married Regina Daniels when she was a minor.
The 64-year-old lawmaker clarified the timeline, stating, "For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19 years old, not 17."
He emphasized that the marriage was conducted honorably, with her family's blessing, and that her mother personally brought her to him. Nwoko also defended his polygamous marriage, stating that it is accepted within Nigerian customs and traditions.
He framed the ongoing accusations as a political witch-hunt, saying, "My decision to marry her properly according to tradition is now being twisted into a tool for political blackmail... an attempt to stop my developmental strides and tarnish me now that I am a Senator."
The conflict, which erupted publicly in October after a viral video showed Regina Daniels in tears alleging domestic violence, continues to unfold, drawing in more family members and attracting significant public attention.
