Rudeboy Alleges Betrayal by Trusted Car Dealer in Atlanta
Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy of the defunct P-Square group, has publicly accused a car dealer in Atlanta, Georgia, of defrauding him in a scheme that has persisted for two years. In a series of Instagram posts on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the artist claimed he wired the full payment for a vehicle to a long-time trusted associate, only to later discover he had been driving a rental car while the dealer pocketed his money.
According to Rudeboy, the dealer brought a car upon his arrival in Atlanta and allowed him to use it for several weeks. The arrangement seemed legitimate until the singer attempted to ship the vehicle to Nigeria, at which point the dealer began offering excuses about delayed title papers and plans to sue the car company. The singer eventually learned that the car was never purchased on his behalf.
Full Payment Made, But No Car Delivered
Rudeboy emphasized that he sent 100 percent of the purchase price upfront before traveling to the United States. The dealer, whom he had worked with previously, appeared to deliver the car, but the transaction unraveled when shipment logistics arose. “Imagine sending money to someone you trusted for years buying cars for you… then one day the person decided to think you are a fool,” Rudeboy wrote. “Sent 100% full money ahead before coming to Atlanta, arrived Atlanta, he brought the car, drove the car like few weeks, e reach to ship my car story change… Title papers delaying bla bla… how he's going to sue the car company bla bla… only to find out I drove a rented car.”
The singer did not disclose the dealer’s name in his posts but vowed that the individual’s reputation would suffer. “For the same Atlanta! Guy! Your name go cast, your face go cast, your company go cast. Na me be your last client,” he added.
Two-Year Scam Without Resolution
Rudeboy revealed that the alleged fraud has been ongoing for two years without any resolution. The delay suggests that the dealer may have exploited the singer’s trust over an extended period, providing a rental car while retaining the full payment. The singer’s frustration was evident as he called out the dealer publicly, seeking accountability.
This incident highlights risks in cross-border car purchases, especially when relying on personal connections. Rudeboy’s case underscores the importance of verifying transactions and avoiding full upfront payments without proper documentation.
Public Reactions and Calls for Accountability
The singer’s post drew widespread reactions on social media, with many followers urging him to name the dealer and provide evidence. Comments included calls for transparency: “Call names make we know how many we dey,” wrote user mazitt305. Officialchima remarked, “2 slides yet u never cast the name, shift abeg. When u ready we go know.” Others like oluwa_max1 questioned why Rudeboy had not sought advice earlier: “When you dy send the money You seek our opinion now business gone bad you wan take us along.” Only1superboyvibez demanded, “Cast the name and face.. or you still dey give am last chance, come on, 2 years is enough . Post receipts.”
The incident has sparked debate about celebrity endorsements and the vulnerability of public figures to financial scams. Some commenters referenced other Nigerian celebrities who have faced similar issues, urging Rudeboy to take legal action.
Rudeboy’s Recent Family Moments
In a separate post, Rudeboy shared a lighthearted video of himself playing basketball with his daughter Imani, whom he had with his younger partner Ivy Ifeoma. The clip, posted on his Instagram story, showed the father-daughter duo bonding indoors. He captioned it, “New baller, Imani Okoye.” This family moment came amid whispers about his relationship with Ifeoma, but the singer has not publicly addressed those rumors.
The car dealer scam, however, remains a pressing issue for the artist, who has not indicated whether he will pursue legal recourse or name the accused party. As of press time, the dealer has not responded to the allegations.
