Kunle Remi's Wife Tiwi Reveals Why She Quit Social Media Before Marriage
Tiwi Remi Opens Up on Leaving Social Media Before Marriage

Tiwi, the wife of renowned Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, has opened up about her journey before becoming the spouse of the movie star. She shared her reasons for stepping away from social media, emphasizing the importance of intentionality and purpose over pressure.

Rediscovering Herself Away from Social Media

Speaking on her new YouTube channel, Bare by Bko, Tiwi explained how her break from social media allowed her to reconnect with her true self and prepare for the life she now leads. The channel focuses on identity, relationships, motherhood, and womanhood. She revealed, “The big reason I was not on social media was that I had no idea who I was and what I was meant to contribute. I didn’t feel that being online in a lukewarm way justified the time spent. I also didn’t know that God was clearing my digital footprint for the person I would marry. I had no idea I would marry this superstar with a strong, controversy-free public image. The kind of wife needed in that space was not someone who was all over the place or attention-seeking. I met my husband and understood why a restart was necessary.”

Social Media Attention Once Shaped Her Identity

Tiwi admitted that before her hiatus, she enjoyed the attention from her online presence and curated a specific image. She often posted revealing photos for validation. “The pictures I posted were more revealing, showing off legs and upper body. I liked the attention it gave me,” she said. Instagram gradually became more than a social platform. “I knew that the more pictures I put out with likes, the less clothing I wore. At one point, I used Instagram as a dating app. I loved when my DMs were active. But I thought that when I got married, I didn’t want to explain a lot. That was my third ‘what was I doing online’ moment.”

Why She Completely Left Social Media

Tiwi later deleted many old pictures and struggled to stay active, especially since social media wasn’t financially beneficial. “Eventually, I decided to get off the app and be content with what’s in front of me,” she said. After leaving, LinkedIn became her only active platform. “Unless you find me on LinkedIn, that’s it. I’m not on any social media except LinkedIn. I don’t have a burner page or apps on my phone. If I need Instagram or TikTok, I use my husband’s phone when he’s home and not using it. I’m not a scroller; I look for something specific.”

Returning Online with a Clear Purpose

Tiwi explained that her return to social media is driven by a clear mission. “I’m back now for Bare because it’s a clear assignment for a specific community, and I want to grow with it. As of May 7, I wasn’t on any platform, but that could change. I want to use my influence for good and not be lukewarm.” She advised people to understand their purpose before engaging on social media. “Don’t rush into it without knowing why you’re there.”
