Social media activist and president of the Ratel Movement, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has intensified his criticism of Pastor David Ibiyeomie over his perceived silence regarding the ongoing killings of Christians in Nigeria.
VDM Questions Pastors' Silence Amid Crisis
In a recent Instagram video that has sparked widespread reactions, the controversial activist addressed the alarming situation of Christian persecution in Nigeria while referencing former US President Donald Trump's threat of intervention. Verydarkman specifically called out the founder of Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt for maintaining what he described as "business as usual" while genocide continues in parts of the country.
The activist drew sharp comparisons between Ibiyeomie and Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, noting that while Dachomo has been vocal about the killings in northern Nigeria, many prominent pastors including Ibiyeomie have remained silent. VDM suggested that the relative safety of Port Harcourt, where Ibiyeomie's ministry is headquartered, might explain his lack of urgency in addressing the crisis.
Praise for Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo
Verydarkman reserved significant praise for Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, highlighting his courageous stance despite not possessing the wealth or large congregation of more prominent religious leaders. "Despite not having the financial resources or massive following of other pastors, Dachomo has consistently spoken out against the violence targeting Christians in northern Nigeria," VDM emphasized in his video.
The activist offered prayers for Dachomo's continued strength and called on other religious leaders to follow his example by using their platforms to demand government action against the escalating violence, particularly in Benue State where the situation has deteriorated significantly.
Public Reaction to VDM's Video
The video has generated substantial engagement from social media users, with many expressing strong opinions about the role of religious leaders in addressing Nigeria's security challenges. One user, @captstan101, commented on the financial aspects of megachurches, calculating that Ibiyeomie's 120,000-capacity church could generate approximately N120 million per service from offerings alone.
Another commenter, @iam_deranick, expressed concern about the silence of religious leaders, stating: "The silence of your 'papas' should really tell you all you need to know. If you can't speak up through your platform, then you're on the other side of the fence."
Several users praised VDM for shifting focus to more pressing national issues rather than celebrity gossip, with @vinnawills noting: "Na this movement we suppose dey push so, not keeping up with Pa Ned and his wives."
This isn't the first time Verydarkman has targeted Pastor Ibiyeomie, having previously criticized videos from the pastor's church services. The ongoing commentary highlights growing public expectation for religious leaders to address national security concerns affecting their congregations.
