A heartbroken woman has taken to social media to share details of her interactions with the late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, including an argument they had when they first met and their last conversation. The actor recently passed away, and news of his death went viral, drawing emotional responses from fans and friends alike.
Woman Mourns Alex Ekubo
Lauretta Chinenye, a Nigerian woman, turned to Facebook to mourn the late actor, whom she first met in 2017. The post followed the announcement of Ekubo's death, which sparked widespread grief online. In her post, Chinenye described Ekubo as a sweet and kind soul.
First Meeting and Argument
Chinenye recounted that she met Ekubo through her brother and friend Kenneth Omeruo in London on a boat on August 5, 2017. During their first encounter, Ekubo and another person named Ik insisted that she was a blogger called 'Chinny,' who had written negative things about him. Chinenye denied this, explaining that she does not follow celebrity gossip. The argument continued until Ekubo realized she was telling the truth. Chinenye noted that Ekubo was funny and gracious throughout the exchange.
After the argument, their conversation shifted to football before other friends joined them. They occasionally chatted afterward, and Ekubo eventually found the real 'Chinny' blogger. Chinenye teased him about owing her compensation for the defamation. She described Ekubo as having a warm spirit, always thoughtful and asking about her family. Their last private chat occurred sometime in 2023, aside from occasional comments on his posts.
Heartbreaking News
Chinenye expressed her devastation upon learning that Ekubo had been ill for a while. She emphasized the importance of checking on friends and acquaintances more often. Her post ended with a tribute: 'Alex, safe journey. You fought the good fight, and I believe the Father will say: Well done, son. May God console your family.'

The post drew reactions from social media users. Antonio Olisa questioned why she did not reach out to Ekubo when Nigerians were anticipating his return. Ojiugo Ajunwa expressed sorrow, stating that we are here to serve a higher purpose. Marvelousiro Chidera wished she could have given her liver for him or borne a child in his name, calling him a role model.
Meanwhile, a Nigerian man shared a heartbreaking Facebook post with one of the last videos of Ekubo before his death, lamenting the actor's demise.
