A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and security expert, Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, has congratulated the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a loyal, dependable and compassionate public servant.
Mumuni, in a statement issued through his media aide, Rasheed Abubakar, also commended Dare's unwavering commitment to President Tinubu and his contributions to public service over the years. The APC stalwart spoke as prominent Nigerians from political, media and business circles gathered in Abuja on Saturday to celebrate the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development and witness the launch of his book, One Thousand and Ninety-Five Days.
Reflecting on his relationship with Dare, Mumuni said their friendship spans several decades and has remained strong through different phases of public life. "Having to do with my relationship with Sunday Dare, basically it has been a decades-long relationship, not an overnight brotherhood," he said.
He particularly praised Dare's loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, noting that their association dates back to the political days of Bourdillon in Lagos. "Apart from his loyalty to Mr President from our days of Bourdillon till date, Sunday Dare has always been wonderful and somebody one can rely upon without losing your sleep," Mumuni stated.
He also highlighted Dare's humility and accessibility despite occupying high-profile public offices. "One thing about Sunday Dare is that he will never ignore your calls for any reason, even during his service as Honourable Minister. He's someone that will always check on you randomly, either by calling or even driving by my house," he added.
Mumuni described Dare as one of Nigeria's leading media and public communication strategists, citing his accomplishments in journalism, public administration and governance. According to him, Dare left a notable mark as Minister of Youth and Sports Development through reforms aimed at improving athlete welfare, sports infrastructure and youth empowerment programmes.
He also recalled Dare's earlier service as Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), where he played a key role in strengthening stakeholder engagement within the telecommunications sector.
Mumuni noted that Dare's traditional titles, including Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland and Sarkin Wasanni Hausaland, reflect his contributions to community development, sports advancement and national integration.
The APC chieftain further described the launch of One Thousand and Ninety-Five Days as one of the highlights of the celebration, noting that the book offers insights into Dare's experiences, achievements and challenges during his three-year tenure as Minister of Youth and Sports Development.
He prayed for continued good health, wisdom and greater accomplishments for the presidential aide as he begins a new chapter at 60.
