Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde has publicly called out a road user who allegedly drove against traffic in Lagos. In a video shared online, she detailed how the driver left his lane to avoid congestion and entered the lane meant for motorists heading towards Lekki. She refused to move out of his way and blocked the vehicle until officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrived at the scene.
Actress Refuses to Yield to Traffic Violator
In the video, Osunde questioned why motorists would break traffic rules simply because they were trying to avoid heavy traffic. She argued that such behaviour contributes to the problems on Nigerian roads, including accidents and delays. She stated emphatically that she would not leave her lane for someone passing one way, even if they had police in their car.
“I will not leave my lane for you when you are passing one way. I won’t do it. I don’t care if you have police in your car,” she said in the video, which was shared by Linda Ikeji's blog on Instagram.
Impact of Reckless Driving on Lagos Roads
The actress added that she would rather remain in traffic or delay her plans than give way to a motorist who was allegedly breaking the law. Her stance highlights the frustration many Lagos residents feel towards drivers who flout traffic regulations, especially during peak hours when congestion is severe.
The video, posted on 17th August 2026, has sparked reactions online, with many praising Osunde for standing her ground while others debated the best way to handle such situations. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges of traffic enforcement in Lagos, where LASTMA officials often struggle to curb illegal driving practices.
