Maryland Golden Lions Club Installs New President, Pledges Expanded Community Service

The Maryland Golden Lions Club has officially installed Ayomikun Olagoroye as its new president, with a strong commitment to deepening humanitarian work and expanding community impact through targeted projects. The installation ceremony took place during a fundraising luncheon in Ikeja, Lagos, where Olagoroye outlined his vision for a tenure focused on service, growth, and consistency.

Focus on Humanitarian Service and Public Benefits

In his inaugural address, Olagoroye emphasized that the core mission of Lions International is service to humanity, and his administration will reflect this through people-centred programmes. He stated that the club plans to carry out projects with direct benefits to the public, addressing pressing social needs such as hunger relief and support for disadvantaged groups. Olagoroye explained, "Ideally, what Lions International stands for is service to humanity. We try as much as possible to carry out projects that have benefits to the public."

He detailed that residents can expect initiatives targeting displaced persons' shelters, motherless homes, and other vulnerable communities, with the club mobilising resources to make meaningful contributions. "What people should expect from me in this position is to have a lot of public-centred projects that cut across the well-being of our immediate society," Olagoroye added, highlighting the importance of thinking beyond personal comfort to help those struggling with basic needs.

Membership Growth and Organisational Development

Olagoroye identified membership growth as a major priority for the club, noting that increasing the number of members will enhance the organisation's capacity to deliver larger and more impactful projects. He stressed that while the club has strong intentions and a desire to serve, it requires more like-minded individuals willing to contribute their time, resources, and influence. The new president explained that the Maryland Golden Lions Club, established less than two years ago, is still in its formative stage, offering an opportunity to shape its culture and build a strong foundation through committed members.

He outlined goals for his administration, including ensuring the club does not miss its expected monthly projects, with consistency being a defining mark of his leadership. Olagoroye said, "One goal of my administration is to ensure the club does not miss its expected monthly projects. I stressed that consistency would be the defining mark of my leadership."

Fundraising and Community Engagement

The installation event featured a ₦15 million fundraising luncheon, aimed at supporting the club's upcoming projects and humanitarian efforts. This initiative underscores the club's dedication to mobilising resources for community benefit. Olagoroye's predecessor, Lion Hassan Olapeju, formally handed over leadership during the ceremony, symbolising a transition focused on continuity and enhanced service.

Looking ahead, the Maryland Golden Lions Club aims to expand its reach and impact through strategic partnerships and volunteer engagement. Olagoroye concluded by reaffirming the club's commitment to making a tangible difference in society, urging members and the public to support their efforts in creating a more compassionate and supportive community.
