Nigerian Mum's Camera Reveals Nanny Making Kids Do Chores: "I Can't Tolerate"
Mum Discovers Nanny Making Her Kids Do Household Chores

A Nigerian mother has ignited a social media storm after discovering through a hidden camera that her nanny was making her children perform household chores against her wishes.

The Shocking Discovery

The mother, who goes by the TikTok username @mamaelenabestmom, decided to plant a camera in her home to monitor activities while she was away. What she witnessed left her furious and determined to take immediate action.

In the now-viral video clip, the nanny could be seen instructing the children to help her arrange foodstuffs and provisions in the kitchen. The mother expressed her frustration, stating she could no longer tolerate the nanny's behavior of consistently giving her kids chores to complete.

"My nanny is always giving my kids chores to do and I can't tolerate it any longer. Nanny caught doing this," the upset mother declared in her social media post that was published on November 15, 2025.

Mixed Reactions Flood Social Media

The video quickly attracted widespread attention on TikTok, with users divided in their opinions about the situation. While the mother saw the nanny's actions as inappropriate, many commenters actually praised the nanny's approach.

User @tongtongie commented: "She's not stressing them, she's teaching them what you can't."

Another user, @daphine, offered a different perspective: "She's seeing your home as her home and your children as her siblings or close people to her. Just like when you're comfortable in a house, you'd ask help from someone. She's talking well to them which shows she's not doing it out of hate but just wants to interact with them."

@Terry tracy added practical advice: "Let her teach them coz there is day you will not be able to do somethings and the kids can help to avoid trouble with neighbours let them help."

The overwhelming majority of commenters seemed to support the nanny, with @November 18th pleading: "he's helping u out with good training. please don't hurt her she just good to ur kids thanks u l mean no harm."

Broader Cultural Conversation

The incident has sparked a larger discussion about parenting styles and cultural values in Nigeria. Many commenters argued that teaching children responsibility through household tasks is beneficial for their development.

@momoza182 questioned alternative activities: "You want them to watch TV the whole day, or be on phone the whole day, kids don't even have a problem this is what they should be doing."

@Melony Joy emphasized the educational value: "Their is nothing wrong with kids learning at a younger age. the nanny is just equipping them for the future as long she is not giving them very very hard task."

Another user, @Mercy_wa_ngaro, highlighted long-term benefits: "She is doing good coz she is helping them to be responsible children coz thy are growing big gal's and one day thy will be helping you."

The mother maintained her position despite the overwhelming support for the nanny online, insisting she would take measures to stop the nanny from involving her children in such activities going forward.
