Shakara Festival: 4-Day Lagos Music Event for Detty December

Lagos is preparing to host an unprecedented outdoor music festival that promises to redefine the famous Detty December celebrations. The Shakara Festival will take place from Thursday, December 18th to Sunday, December 21st, 2025, marking the city's first multi-day festival of this scale.

A New Destination for Detty December

The groundbreaking event will transform Nautica Beach Resort in Lekki, Lagos into a vibrant hub of African music and culture. Organizers anticipate welcoming 20,000 attendees daily, creating the ultimate destination for both diasporans returning home and music enthusiasts from across the African continent.

This four-day immersive experience is specifically designed to showcase contemporary African culture to a global audience while providing an unforgettable experience for all participants.

Daytime Culture and Evening Rhythms

During daylight hours, the festival grounds will buzz with intellectual and creative energy. Attendees can participate in thought-provoking panel discussions featuring industry leaders who will explore topics ranging from the music business to the broader creative economy.

The Shakara Junction marketplace will offer a curated selection of vendors and artisans presenting unique food, fashion, and craft items. The afternoons will come alive with live performances from both established and emerging artists across multiple genres including Afrobeats, Alternative, Soul, Gospel, Alté, and Afro-Fusion.

As evening approaches, the energy transitions to Shakara Afterdark – a series of exclusive parties created in collaboration with some of Lagos' most beloved raves and parties, keeping the celebration pulsating into the early morning hours.

Unifying Africa's Musical Landscape

Godson Oriaku, CEO & Founder of Shakara Festival, explained the vision behind this ambitious project. "We wanted to build something that was truly groundbreaking for the Nigerian music scene. Shakara is about authentic expression and creating a space where different sounds and people can connect."

He emphasized that the festival aims to unify Africa's diverse musical landscape, bringing together everything from soul and gospel to the grittiest Alté sounds in one massive celebration.

Abiola Francesca Dacosta-Ajayi, Founding Partner of Shakara Festival, described the event as more than just a music festival. "We are creating a world-class platform to celebrate the richness of our culture and the incredible talent that Africa possesses. This festival is our gift to Lagos and a bold statement to the world about the power and influence of our creative spirit."

Festival organizers have promised to announce an impressive lineup of both established and up-and-coming musical talents in the coming weeks, building anticipation for what promises to be a landmark event in Nigeria's entertainment calendar.
