NewJeans to Stay Together as Members Return to ADOR
In a major development for K-pop fans worldwide, all five members of the globally popular group NewJeans are officially making their way back to their record label, ADOR. This decision brings a definitive end to a tense legal dispute that lasted for months and had threatened to break up the beloved group.
The Beginning of the Conflict and Court Rulings
The conflict first erupted in late 2024 when NewJeans announced shocking plans to leave ADOR. The members cited serious allegations, including mistreatment, manipulation, and unmet contractual demands. A key point of their argument was the demand for the reinstatement of their former CEO and mentor, Min Hee-jin.
However, the courts ruled in favour of the record label. Following a series of these rulings, members Hyein and Haerin were the first to publicly accept the decision. In a statement shared on ADOR's official X account (formerly Twitter), they declared they would “respect the court’s ruling and return to the company.” Reports from South Korean media later confirmed that the remaining three members—Minji, Hanni, and Danielle—have also agreed to return, ensuring the entire group remains intact under ADOR.
Fans and Industry React to the Resolution
While this outcome is different from what NewJeans had initially fought for, fans of the group, known for chart-topping hits like “Super Shy” and “ETA”, are expressing immense relief. The primary sentiment is one of happiness that the group will continue to create music together without being split apart.
Industry experts watching the situation say this resolution does more than just secure NewJeans' future. It also solidifies ADOR’s control over one of K-pop's most influential new-generation acts, setting a significant precedent in the industry. The reunion under the label marks a new chapter for the group after a period of public uncertainty.
