The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu Land has issued a strong rebuke against popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, known as KWAM1 or K1 De Ultimate, over his recent protest letter to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. The family has labelled his claims regarding the selection process for the next Awujale as "arrant nonsense."
Protest Letter Dismissed as Misguided
In a letter dated January 8, 2026, KWAM1, through his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), alleged he was being unfairly excluded from the Awujale selection process. He claimed directives from the ruling house violated state laws. Responding sharply, Prof. Fassy Yusuf, Vice Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, dismissed the allegations.
"It is a misguided letter. Either Wahab Shittu is being misled, or Wasiu Ayinde is being misled. It is arrant nonsense," Yusuf stated. He confirmed the letter was directed to the state government, which would respond appropriately.
Logistical Realities and Family Stance
Prof. Yusuf challenged the logic of KWAM1's concerns about the screening process, highlighting the massive size of the ruling house. "We have over 20,000 members in the ruling house. How does he expect us to manage such a crowd? What is being discussed here is illogical," he argued.
The family maintains a firm position that Ayinde is not a member of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and is therefore ineligible to contest for the vacant stool. This is despite Ayinde's public declaration of interest, joining over 60 other reported aspirants.
A History of Legal Challenges and Process Reset
This is not the first legal move by the musician. Ayinde had previously approached the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an injunction to halt the selection process. The court dismissed the application for lacking merit, after which Ayinde withdrew the suit.
The ongoing controversy led to a suspension and restart of the nomination process following state government intervention. The family had scheduled a nomination meeting for aspirants for Monday, January 12, 2026, with delegates to be chosen earlier on January 10, 2026.
In his latest letter, Ayinde expressed surprise at the swift issuance of nomination forms by the ruling house's PRO, Prince Adeleye Lateef Ademuyiwa, following an approval from the Ijebu-Ode Local Government dated January 6, 2026. The path to selecting the next Awujale remains a subject of intense public interest and internal scrutiny.
