Veteran Nollywood actor Lalude has sent shockwaves through Nigeria's entertainment scene with serious allegations against two of its biggest names, Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola. In a candid interview, the seasoned thespian revealed his profound hurt over what he describes as a deliberate exclusion from their film projects, despite their shared history and his contributions to their early careers.
The Core of the Allegations: A Painful Exclusion
Lalude stated that filmmakers and fellow actors Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola have stopped inviting him to participate in their productions. He expressed concern over this sudden and prolonged absence from their sets, which contrasts sharply with his long-standing involvement in the Yoruba film industry.
The actor specifically recalled his role in propelling Odunlade Adekola to fame, naming the early project Alani Pamolekun as a significant collaboration. Regarding Femi Adebayo, Lalude mentioned that his last appearance was in the film Sonto Alapata, several years ago. He claimed that since then, neither star has extended an invitation or included him in casting calls.
"I know why they are not using me again," Lalude asserted during the interview, though he chose not to publicly disclose the specific reasons behind his belief.
A Deeper Cut: Family Ties and Shared Heritage
What makes the situation particularly distressing for Lalude, according to his account, is the close relationship he shares with the father of both actors, veteran actor and filmmaker Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello. He highlighted this family connection and their shared professional background, making the perceived sidelining feel like a personal betrayal.
Lalude emphasized that despite this deep-rooted connection, he has been conspicuously absent from their recent and current ventures, a fact that has left him deeply wounded.
Netizens React with Shock and Support
The interview quickly trended online, with fans and social media users expressing a mix of shock and solidarity with the veteran actor. Many comments acknowledged noticing his absence from recent blockbuster films like Warlord. Some users speculated on possible reasons, while others simply called for his reinstatement, affectionately referring to him as "Baba."
The public reaction underscores Lalude's enduring popularity and the surprise many feel at his claimed exclusion from major projects helmed by his colleagues.
This incident is not Lalude's first time speaking out on perceived neglect. He previously sparked controversy by alleging that the All Progressives Congress (APC) abandoned him and other entertainers after they campaigned for President Bola Tinubu and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2023 elections. He also recently shared a painful experience of being ignored by actress Sola Sobowale at a public event.
In a separate but notable part of the same interview, Lalude also shared his views on the sensitive issue of kidnapping in Nigeria, attributing it to destiny. He stated that while the government might know the perpetrators' hideouts, fate ultimately decides who becomes a victim. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities promptly.
