Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly addressed allegations made by his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, concerning their ongoing custody battle. In a firm rebuttal, Nwoko's team asserts that Daniels' recent online narratives present a distorted version of events, clarifying that a court has already issued rulings on the matter.
Court Directives and Alleged Misrepresentation
In a statement released via his Instagram and signed by his communications team, Senator Nwoko disclosed significant legal developments. The court has reportedly directed that Regina Daniels must complete a drug rehabilitation program and undergo an assessment by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before she can regain access to their two children, Munir (5) and Khalifa (3).
The substantive custody suit has been adjourned to 4 February 2026. Additionally, a fundamental rights action filed against Nwoko and the Nigeria Police was struck out and dismissed by the court.
The statement strongly criticised Daniels for what it termed a misrepresentation of long-standing family practices and an attempt to sway public opinion through social media. It argued that sharing moments of the children publicly was a normalised family tradition, one that Regina herself had actively participated in for years by posting content featuring not only her own kids but also those of other wives.
Claims of Absence and Prioritisation of Wellness
Nwoko's team firmly rejected any suggestion that Regina has been forcibly kept from her children. They stated her prolonged absence was a matter of personal choice, emphasising that the children are in a stable environment focused on routine and emotional well-being.
The statement alleged that outside of brief, staged domestic scenes, Daniels has largely chosen social engagements over consistent presence in the children's lives. It framed the court-mandated encouragement for rehabilitation not as punitive, but as a protective measure for the minors.
"Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound and sober most of the time," the statement read, describing this as a fundamental parental duty.
Appeal for Responsibility and Compliance
The senator's communication revealed that the family had deliberately chosen not to publicise the court's decisions to afford Regina privacy and dignity to seek help without public scrutiny. However, they expressed disappointment that she instead opted to mobilise online sympathy.
The statement concluded by asserting that if genuine contact with the children is desired, the most responsible path forward is compliance with the court-directed rehabilitation process and a demonstrated, sustained commitment to personal wellness.
