Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has ignited a fiery online debate after publicly challenging the religious notion that couples should abstain from sex before marriage.
The Controversial Video Statement
In a video shared on social media on November 8, 2025, Sarah Martins directly responded to a pastor's teaching that compared men who request premarital sex to "bicycles" while encouraging women to wait for their "Bentley."
The actress turned this analogy on its head, questioning "what if I am the one that is the Bicycle and the man is the Bentley?" She described herself as a "girl's girl" and "lover girl" who doesn't believe in cheating and takes relationships seriously.
Practical Approach to Relationships
Sarah defended her position by emphasizing the importance of sexual compatibility before marriage. "Why do you think I will blindly enter into a relationship or marriage without confirming the strength of my man or if he is actually a man down there?" she questioned.
She expressed concern about the potential consequences of discovering sexual incompatibility after marriage, stating "I do not intend to start sneaking around after being married to my man."
The actress advocated for a more practical approach to relationships, arguing that "It is okay for me to get to know this man in and out, sex inclusive before I finally get to settle down with him."
Challenging Traditional Beliefs
Sarah strongly disagreed with the idea that making a man wait guarantees a successful relationship. "If you like make a man wait for ten years, any man that will stay will stay and any man that will leave you will leave you," she stated.
She pointed out the inconsistency in traditional thinking, noting that "A man can stay with you for ten years but the very night he has his way, that same night, he wouldn't leave you."
Her concluding statement delivered the powerful message: "Making a man wait so long doesn't guarantee a relationship or starving a man does not guarantee you being a good girl."
The video was shared on Linda Ikeji's blog, sparking widespread discussion among Nigerians about relationships, religious teachings, and modern dating practices.
