In a significant move to bolster men's health in Nigeria, Polaris Bank has announced the launch of its 2025 free prostate cancer screening initiative. This program, a continuation of its successful 2024 campaign, aims to provide critical health services to hundreds of Nigerian men.
A Life-Saving Partnership Renewed
Building on the positive impact of last year's event, Polaris Bank is once again collaborating with the Men’s Health Clinic to deliver this essential service. The 2025 edition is themed “Men, Your Health Matters – Get Screened Today!” and will run from November 24 to December 31, 2025.
The bank has committed to fully sponsoring comprehensive, painless, and confidential screenings for 250 men aged 40 and above. This vital initiative is designed to combat prostate cancer, which remains the second most common cancer among men in Nigeria. The screenings will include:
- A PSA blood test.
- A Digital Rectal Examination (DRE).
- One-on-one consultations with medical specialists.
All these services will be provided at absolutely no cost to the beneficiaries.
Leadership Committed to Community Health
Commenting on this corporate social responsibility effort, Kayode Lawal, the Managing Director and CEO of Polaris Bank, emphasized the importance of the program. He stated that the feedback and the number of lives positively affected in 2024 reinforced the bank's dedication to men's wellness.
“We are delighted to sustain this tradition, remove every barrier to early detection, and welcome more men into the Polaris Bank family with seamless, rewarding banking experiences,” Lawal said.
Expert Care for Early Intervention
Dr. Akin Oteniya, the Founder and Chief Medical Director of Men’s Health Clinic, also shared his perspective on the collaboration. He praised the previous year's partnership, describing it as setting a gold standard for corporate health responsibility within the country.
“We are proud to partner again in 2025 to deliver dignified, expert care and continue saving lives through early intervention,” Dr. Oteniya added. The emphasis on early detection is crucial, as medical statistics show that when prostate cancer is caught early, the survival rate exceeds 98 per cent.
This initiative by Polaris Bank represents a critical step in addressing a major public health issue in Nigeria, providing accessible healthcare and promoting the importance of regular health check-ups for men.
