Experts Advocate AI and Biosensor Integration with Physiology to Revolutionize Healthcare

Medical experts have strongly emphasized the critical need to integrate physiology with cutting-edge innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and biosensors. They stress that this synergistic approach will significantly strengthen diagnostics, therapies, and overall healthcare systems across Nigeria.

Bio-Synergy Conference Highlights Technological Advancements

Stakeholders gathered at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo State for a two-day Bio-Synergy Conference to discuss how physiology and new technologies can transform healthcare in the country. The conference focused on linking physiological research with modern technological tools to improve national health outcomes, bringing together medical researchers, technologists, and policymakers to explore practical ways to modernize the nation's healthcare infrastructure.

The event also celebrated the 150th anniversary of The Physiological Society, underscoring its historical significance in advancing medical science.

Leadership Perspectives on Innovation

The Vice Chancellor of UNIMED, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, noted that the conference reflects the institution's commitment to advancing scientific research and leveraging new technologies to tackle critical health challenges. She stated, "This conference demonstrates our dedication to using innovative tools to position Nigeria for sustainable and effective healthcare solutions."

Prof. Chukwuemeka Nwokocha, who delivered the keynote address, highlighted the transformative role of AI in natural product research. He explained, "AI is revolutionizing natural product research by enabling the development of safer and more effective plant-derived treatments, which can enhance therapeutic outcomes."

Unified Approach for a Healthier Nation

Another speaker, Dr. Mega Oyovwi, emphasized that achieving a healthier nation requires a collaborative effort. She argued that success depends on the seamless integration of technology, community engagement, and unified data systems working together to address healthcare disparities and improve access to quality care.

Experts maintain that adopting AI in this field will not only boost diagnostics and treatments but also pave the way for more personalized and efficient healthcare delivery, ultimately benefiting patients nationwide.
