A Nigerian man, Onuora Okeke, is reaching out for help as his wife struggles with traumatic grief following the death of their young daughter, Amanda. Okeke shared that his wife has stopped eating, sleeping, and bathing, and his attempts to comfort her have been unsuccessful.
Details of the Tragedy
According to Okeke, their daughter's illness began with purging and vomiting, which he initially thought were symptoms of teething. He took Amanda to several hospitals, but lab tests for typhoid and malaria came back negative. Okeke also sought prayers from many 'great Men of God,' who claimed the child was suffering from a 'witchcraft operation.'
A Plea for Help
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Okeke wrote: 'Since the death of my beautiful daughter Amanda, my wife has refused to take a bath, she refused to eat. She is full of fear. Once she sees anything that belongs to Amanda, she will be shivering and crying. She doesn't sleep at night.'
He added that he has thrown away almost everything belonging to their daughter, including feeding bottles, drugs, pampers, and some clothes, hoping to ease his wife's pain, but to no avail. Thousands of people have tried to talk to her, but she remains inconsolable.
Okeke concluded: 'Please, those who have passed through this path should advise me on what to do next to calm her down. Losing a child is too painful. It's not even good to wish your enemy.'
