In a significant move to alleviate hardship during the festive period, the PanAfrican Capital (PAC) Foundation has provided essential medical services and food supplies to hundreds of residents in the Ajegunle community of Lagos State.
Bringing Relief to Ajegunle
The non-governmental organisation carried out its 2025 end-of-year community outreach in December 2025, targeting underserved populations. The initiative was strategically timed to offer timely relief and crucial healthcare support when many families face increased economic pressures.
During the event, the foundation distributed 200 bags of food items to 200 separate households, directly addressing immediate food security concerns. Simultaneously, 100 members of the community received free medical screenings and consultations. This dual approach aimed to tackle two fundamental challenges prevalent in low-income areas: nutrition and access to preventive healthcare.
Commitment to Sustainable Impact
Omolola Ojo, the Executive Secretary of PAC Foundation, emphasized the organisation's core belief. She stated that meeting immediate human needs is the foundation of sustainable development. "This outreach reflects our commitment to supporting vulnerable communities, especially during periods of heightened economic pressure," Ojo said. "Beyond the numbers, our goal is to restore dignity, promote wellbeing, and remind people that they are seen and supported."
The medical component of the outreach was conducted in partnership with Sage Diagnostics. It included basic health checks and consultations designed to promote early detection of health issues and encourage healthier living practices among residents.
Designed for Short and Long-Term Value
Oluwayomi Tobi-Ayegun, the Programmes and Evaluation Manager for the foundation, explained the strategy behind the intervention. "By combining food support with medical services, we addressed two critical challenges faced by low-income households," Tobi-Ayegun noted. She added that the structure was intentional to deliver both immediate aid and long-term value. The strong turnout and active engagement from community members underscored the necessity of bringing such services directly to the people who need them most.
Local community leaders praised the foundation for its well-organised and impactful approach. A representative from the community leadership team expressed deep gratitude, highlighting that the initiative brought real relief at a time when many families are struggling. "We are grateful to PAC Foundation for remembering our community and investing in our wellbeing," the leader said.
This outreach in Ajegunle is part of the PAC Foundation's broader mission to improve the quality of life in underserved Nigerian communities.
