The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his conviction in absentia. According to the EFCC, Mamman was apprehended in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State.
Confirming this development to newsmen, EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, stated that the former minister was previously convicted and sentenced in absentia to 75 years imprisonment over corruption-related offences. Saleh Mamman served as Nigeria's Minister of Power under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The arrest marks a significant step in the anti-corruption efforts of the current administration. The EFCC continues to pursue individuals convicted of financial crimes to ensure they face justice. Mamman's conviction and subsequent arrest underscore the commission's commitment to holding public officials accountable for corrupt practices.
Details surrounding the exact charges and the legal process that led to his conviction remain under scrutiny. The EFCC has urged the public to support its fight against corruption by providing credible information that can lead to the arrest of other fugitives.
