MOSOP Backs NSA Dialogue for Oil Resumption in Ogoni

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has expressed strong support for the dialogue committee established by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) to address the Ogoni crisis. The group described this initiative as a potential turning point that could lead to oil resumption and bring an end to 33 years of conflict in the region.

MOSOP Demands Collective Benefits

MOSOP firmly insisted that any agreement must prioritize collective benefits reflecting the sacrifices of the Ogoni people. The group called on all critical stakeholders to give the ONSA-coordinated dialogue a chance to succeed. Speaking at a leaders' meeting in Port Harcourt, MOSOP President Fegalo Nsuke emphasized that the ongoing process is significantly different from previous federal government approaches and deserves to be tested. He praised the ONSA for the people-centered strategy.

Call for Unity Against Self-Interest

Nsuke urged the public to disregard any self-centered attempts to derail the progress achieved so far. He stressed that the focus should now be on mutual benefits for the Ogoni people and the entire Niger Delta region. The MOSOP President stated that under no circumstances would they allow private interests to override the collective good. He reaffirmed their support for the dialogue committee and expressed patience to see the outcome.

Nsuke condemned what he called divisive campaigns aimed at diverting government attention from critical issues raised by the Ogoni people and exploiting the opportunity for private gain. He declared that they would collectively fight to secure their future. “Whatever benefits arise from the struggles must be for the good of all Ogoni. Anyone wishing to own an oil company should register with the CAC, not attempt to shortchange Ogoni interests,” Nsuke said.

Appeal to Stakeholders

The MOSOP President urged key stakeholders to defend their costly struggles. “We have an opportunity to discuss mutual benefits, and MOSOP will strongly back a mutually beneficial settlement from the ongoing dialogue,” he added.
