NDC Ebonyi Dismisses Vote of No Confidence, Accuses Secretary

The Ebonyi State chapter of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed as null and void a purported vote of no confidence passed on its State Chairman, Prince Enyinnia Alum Udensi, and the State Organizing Secretary. The party described the move as the handiwork of disgruntled elements pursuing personal interests.

Statement from the State Working Committee

In a statement issued on Friday, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party condemned a video circulated by the State Secretary, Adum Solomon Chinedu, and a group of individuals claiming to be party executives. In the video, they announced a vote of no confidence against the party leadership. The SWC described the allegations of hijack, compromise, and manipulation against the state leadership as “baseless and unfounded,” insisting that the gathering lacked constitutional backing and did not represent the party’s legitimate structures.

Accusations Against the State Secretary

The committee accused Adum of engaging in “transactional politicking” and attempting to create the impression of a crisis within the party following alleged personal disappointments. The party also defended former Ebonyi State Governor, Senator Sam Egwu, whose name was reportedly mentioned in the dispute, describing him as a respected political leader whose contributions to the state and democratic governance remain significant.

Unity and Commitment to Peace

According to the statement, the party leadership remains united and committed to peace, reconciliation, and strengthening its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections. The SWC further urged Adum to publicly apologize to the party leadership and refrain from dragging party stakeholders into what it described as personal disputes.

Reaffirmation of Confidence

Reaffirming confidence in Prince Udensi’s leadership, the committee called on members and the public to disregard what it termed misleading narratives, stressing that “the NDC is bigger than any individual ambition, grievance, or personal expectation.” The party emphasized its commitment to unity and progress, urging all members to focus on collective goals rather than internal conflicts.
