The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) recently organized a celebratory dinner to honor Professor Afekhide Ernest Omoti, who was elected as the new president of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). The event was held to recognize his achievements and to encourage him as he steps into his new role.

During the dinner, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UBTH, Professor Idia Ize-Iyamu, offered her congratulations to Omoti. Omoti's Background and Previous Roles
Before his election as NMA National President, Omoti served as the Chairman of the Edo State Branch of the NMA and also chaired the National Eye Health Committee. His extensive experience in medical leadership and ophthalmology has prepared him for this national role.
