APC Support Group Advocates for Christian Virtues and Condemns Political Vandalism in Ondo

A prominent support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended warm Easter felicitations to Christians across Nigeria, with a special focus on residents of Ondo State. The group, known as AMG, emphasized the importance of embracing the core values exemplified by Jesus Christ, including sacrifice, humility, and selflessness, as the nation commemorates this significant religious observance.

Easter as a Time for Reflection and Service

During a press briefing held in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Friday, the Director-General of AMG, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, articulated that Easter serves as a profound reminder of redemption and the victory of love over adversity. He urged believers to move beyond mere festive celebrations and engage in deep reflection on the life and teachings of Christ.

"Easter transcends the festive pomp and pageantry. It is a season that calls on all believers to reflect deeply on the life of Christ, His unwavering commitment to service, His spirit of forgiveness, and His ultimate sacrifice for humanity," Asagunla stated. He further highlighted that a society built on principles of compassion and selflessness is inherently poised for prosperity, encouraging Christians to let these virtues guide their daily interactions with neighbors, leaders, and the broader community.

Commitment to President Tinubu's 2027 Victory

In a strong political declaration, Asagunla reaffirmed AMG's unwavering dedication to securing an overwhelming victory for President Bola Tinubu in Ondo State during the upcoming 2027 general elections. He called on the populace to reciprocate the developmental strides initiated by the Tinubu administration by delivering an unprecedented volume of votes.

"President Tinubu's administration has embarked on courageous reforms that will secure Nigeria's future for generations to come. The pains of today are the gains of tomorrow. Ondo State must stand firmly behind this visionary leader in 2027," Asagunla asserted. He elaborated that AMG has been actively mobilizing support across all 203 wards in the state, targeting women, youth, and the elderly to align with the vision of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Grassroots Mobilization and Opposition Dynamics

The Director-General praised Minister Tunji-Ojo's extensive engagement and grassroots outreach efforts since 2023, noting that these initiatives have significantly weakened opposition parties in Ondo State. According to Asagunla, the opposition camp has become fragmented and is struggling to maintain relevance as numerous individuals and groups continue to defect to the ruling APC.

"We have left no ward untouched. Our mobilisation machinery is reaching every hamlet, every market and every constituency. The message is clear: Ondo State will speak with one loud voice for President Tinubu in 2027," he emphasized. Asagunla also commended the Minister's humanitarian contributions, describing them as visible, verifiable, and deeply appreciated by the common people.

Condemnation of Billboard Vandalism

Addressing recent incidents of vandalism targeting billboards featuring President Tinubu's image and insignia in parts of Ondo State, particularly within the Akure metropolis, Asagunla expressed strong dismay. He called on security agencies to swiftly identify and prosecute the perpetrators, labeling such acts as attacks on democratic culture and the will of the majority.

"Political expression must never descend into vandalism. Destroying the President's billboards is an attack on democratic culture and the will of millions who stand with him. We urge all lovers of peace to resist such tendencies and report those responsible to law enforcement," Asagunla declared. He noted the irony of such vandalism occurring despite the apparent absence of a formidable opposition in the state, with over 90% of the local population reportedly supporting the APC and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Resolve Amidst Intimidation

Concluding his remarks, the Director-General reiterated AMG's steadfast focus on its grassroots mobilization agenda. He vowed that no acts of intimidation would deter the group's commitment to ensuring a landslide victory for President Tinubu in Ondo State come 2027, underscoring the importance of maintaining peace and democratic integrity throughout the electoral process.
