Benue ADC Gubernatorial Aspirant Unveils Comprehensive Security and Agricultural Revival Plan
As the political landscape begins to shift toward the 2027 elections, Dr. Raymond Edoh, a governorship aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State, has made a firm commitment to overhaul the state's security infrastructure and breathe new life into its agricultural sector. During a formal declaration of his candidacy at a World Press Briefing held in Abuja on Friday, Edoh outlined a vision centered on protecting citizens and unlocking economic potential.
Security as the Cornerstone of Development
Dr. Edoh emphasized that Benue State, often referred to as the "Food Basket of the Nation," cannot achieve its full economic promise while its residents live in constant fear of violent attacks. He pledged to establish a comprehensive security framework designed to safeguard lives and property across all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. "Security is the foundation of development; therefore, our communities deserve safety and peace," Edoh asserted.
His proposed measures include:
- Launching the Benue State Community Policing Program (BSCPP) to foster local involvement in security efforts.
- Deploying advanced security technologies, such as CCTV surveillance systems and drones, to enable rapid response to incidents.
- Creating dedicated conflict resolution platforms to address the persistent farmer-herder clashes that have destabilized rural areas.
Agricultural Revitalization and Youth Empowerment
Beyond security, Edoh presented a multi-sectoral manifesto titled 'Roadmap for Transformation (2027–2030),' which prioritizes aggressive interventions in mechanized agriculture, healthcare, and youth empowerment. He specifically vowed to protect farmers by providing them with modern tools and ensuring fair returns for their labor. "I am running because Benue cannot afford another cycle of unfulfilled promises. Our farmers deserve protection, modern tools, and fair returns," he added.
In a bid to tackle unemployment, the aspirant pledged to train 50,000 youths annually in digital and vocational skills, equipping them for the evolving job market. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to foster economic growth and stability in the state.
A Call for Competence and Unity
Describing himself as a "servant-leader," Edoh claimed that his blueprint distinguishes itself from other contenders through its practicality and emphasis on accountability. "I am tried and trusted. No governorship aspirant has my kind of workable roadmap blueprint for the people of Benue State. My manifesto under the ADC is people-oriented, selfless, and designed to make our state great again," he assured.
Concluding his address, Edoh urged the electorate to prioritize "competence over connections" and "unity over division" as the 2027 polls approach. He advised, "The time has come to choose progress over politics as usual. Together, we can build a Benue where farmers prosper, youths thrive, and leadership is accountable."
