Faleke: Tinubu is Nigeria's Best Bet for Stability and Reform in 2027
Faleke Backs Tinubu for 2027, Cites Reforms and Stability

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a key political ally has positioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the nation's most viable candidate for sustained stability and transformative development. The Convener of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, made this declaration, asserting that the President's bold reforms have set Nigeria on an unprecedented path.

Christmas Outreach and Political Endorsement

Faleke spoke in Abuja on Saturday, 20 December 2025, during the Annual Christmas Support to the Less Privileged and PBAT Supporters event. The gathering served a dual purpose: distributing bags of rice to members and vulnerable citizens, and solidifying political support for the President. Faleke dismissed opposition claims of being able to defeat Tinubu at the polls, arguing that the administration's tangible actions have fortified its standing.

He emphasized that Tinubu's administration has demonstrated the political courage to confront deep-seated structural problems that have hindered Nigeria's progress for decades. "President Tinubu is not experimenting. He is taking tough decisions and offering real solutions to Nigeria’s problems in ways no other leader has done," Faleke stated. He credited the President's resilience, recalling the intense pressure of the 2023 election, including the naira redesign policy which he labeled a deliberate attempt to frustrate Tinubu's victory.

Cataloguing the Reforms: From Economy to Autonomy

Faleke provided a detailed account of the policies he believes justify Tinubu's re-election bid. He highlighted several key areas where the administration has made significant impact:

  • Economic reforms and debt repayment aimed at stabilizing the nation's finances.
  • Expanded student funding for tertiary education to improve access.
  • Increased financial allocations to states to boost development at the sub-national level.
  • The establishment of regional development commissions across all six geopolitical zones.
  • Advancing local government autonomy to strengthen grassroots governance and improve fiscal flows.

He also praised Tinubu for recognizing the contributions of support groups, noting that many members now serve as heads of agencies, board members, and senior government officials.

Nationwide Support and Future Confidence

The Director General of TSG, Dr. Umar Tanko-Yakasai, who oversaw the outreach, assured that the rice distribution gesture would extend beyond Abuja. He confirmed that bags of rice would be distributed across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Echoing Faleke's sentiments, Tanko-Yakasai reiterated that President Tinubu has repositioned Nigeria by stabilizing the economy, reducing commodity prices, and clearing foreign debt obligations. He acknowledged the vast network of support, mentioning over 5,000 registered support groups, each with hundreds or thousands of members, while noting that not everyone can be appointed to a formal position.

Both leaders concluded that given the administration's record of tackling long-standing issues, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains Nigeria's best answer to its current challenges and the strongest bet for continued reform and national stability as the country looks toward the next electoral cycle.
