Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has expressed delight at the massive voter turnout observed at Afao-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, his hometown, declaring that victory is certain for Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Fayose Votes Early
Fayose arrived at his polling unit at St David’s Primary School, Afao-Ekiti, which also served as the ward collation centre, at 8:50 AM. He was accompanied by his son, Bolu Fayose, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency II. They were accredited at 8:53 AM by an INEC official using the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) before receiving their ballots to cast their votes.
Landslide Victory Predicted
Speaking after voting, Fayose predicted a landslide victory for the APC candidate, Abiodun Oyebanji. He noted that so far, there had been no incidents, issues, or disruptions, describing the process as bearing a clear resemblance to a credible election. He stated, “INEC are alert to their duties; this is an improvement from the past. Oyebanji has already won the election if you look at the state of things in the state and the body language of the people. I am predicting an overwhelming victory for him.”
Praise for Security Operatives
Fayose also lauded the conduct of security operatives, saying, “They are doing very well. You can see that they have enough men on the ground. They conduct themselves very well and take no side in the exercise.” He urged political actors to accept the outcome of the exercise and allow the state to move past voting and focus on governance.
