Kwara Entrepreneurs Pledge ₦100 Million to Support Mustapha's 2027 Governorship Bid

In a significant show of political support, business leaders and young entrepreneurs in Kwara State have collectively pledged to mobilize ₦100 million to back Senator Saliu Mustapha's governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections. This substantial financial commitment, made under the platform of Corporate Kwara, is specifically intended to fund the procurement of the gubernatorial nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a pivotal moment in the state's political landscape.

Strong Backing from Business Community

The group formally disclosed its commitment during a courtesy visit to the senator's office in Ilorin on Sunday, where they highlighted Mustapha's longstanding advocacy for the business sector. Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the forum's coordinator, Abdulmajeed Olayinka Idilobe, emphasized that the decision was driven by Mustapha's consistent support for entrepreneurial growth in Kwara State.

"We are deeply impressed by the unwavering commitment of Senator Mustapha to the development and empowerment of young entrepreneurs in our state," Idilobe stated. He noted that the lawmaker had actively supported business initiatives even before assuming public office, demonstrating a genuine dedication to economic progress.

Proven Track Record in Business Support

According to Idilobe, Mustapha's engagement with the Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mining and Agriculture, along with his continued backing of small and medium-scale enterprises through both financial and advisory support, clearly distinguishes him from other aspirants. "Among all those contesting for the governorship, he stands out with a proven track record of support for the business community. We are therefore ready to pool our resources to support his ambition," he added.

He further clarified that the ₦100 million pledge represents a voluntary contribution by stakeholders, with no conditions attached, reflecting genuine grassroots support. The delegation included prominent business leaders such as Dr. Shuiabu Abdullahi and Zurura Zubair, showcasing broad participation across the state's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Appreciation and Future Commitments

Responding on behalf of the senator, who also holds the traditional title of Turaki Ilorin, his Executive Assistant, Alabi Abdulkareem, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in Mustapha's leadership capabilities. Abdulkareem highlighted that the lawmaker's background as an entrepreneur continues to shape his pro-business approach, assuring stakeholders of sustained support for enterprise development in the state.

He also urged members of the business community to continue backing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, linking recent improvements in the business environment to ongoing national economic reforms. This call underscores the interconnectedness of local political support and broader federal initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth.
