NDC Launches Digital Membership Portal to Modernize Party and Expand National Reach
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially unveiled its digital membership registration portal in Abuja, marking a significant step in the party's efforts to expand participation, modernize operations, and strengthen its organizational structure nationwide. The launch event was led by the party's National Leader, Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside National Chairman Cleopas Moses and National Secretary Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, with attendance from numerous state chairmen, party leaders, and stakeholders.
Modernizing Political Engagement
Speaking at the ceremony, Dickson described the digital platform as a major advancement toward building a modern political organization capable of attracting broad national participation, including Nigerians in the diaspora. He emphasized that the portal will enable citizens to register as party members from any location, ensuring proper documentation and efficient management of membership records. Dickson expressed gratitude to Nigerians who have shown interest in the party since its emergence, noting that many have reached out through calls and messages to indicate their readiness to support the political movement.
"I thank Nigerians across the country who, upon hearing about this initiative, have encouraged us with messages and calls and have shown their readiness to support this vision to salvage our country," Dickson said. He highlighted that although the party is only a few weeks old, it has already begun attracting significant attention from Nigerians across different regions, positioning itself as a national political platform with structures coordinated by experienced operatives at state, local government, and ward levels.
Ensuring Inclusivity and Accessibility
To ensure inclusiveness, Dickson explained that the digital registration portal will be complemented by manual registration forms, particularly for citizens in rural areas who may lack internet access or digital devices. Printed forms will be distributed through party officials at various administrative levels to prevent exclusion of interested Nigerians. Dickson expressed confidence in meeting organizational and registration targets despite time constraints, noting that party leaders nationwide have been mobilized to assist those wishing to join.
Addressing Political Dissatisfaction
Commenting on Nigeria's political landscape, Dickson pointed to growing dissatisfaction among citizens, which he said has created a demand for credible alternatives. "Nigerians are angry with the status quo. Nigerians are not only angry, they are also hungry — and they are hungry for change," he stated. He added that the NDC aims to position itself as a credible platform capable of delivering the transformation many Nigerians desire, describing it as a fresh, crisis-free movement built on ideological politics, national unity, and development.
Using a biblical analogy, Dickson likened the party's emergence to the story of Noah and the ark, urging early engagement. "In the Bible, when Noah knew what was going to happen and prepared the ark, people thought he was crazy. But when the flood eventually came, they began to run to the ark and it was too late," he said. "The NDC in Nigeria today is like Noah's family. Those who can see the signs should come on board early."
