Oborevwori Congratulates Oyebanji on Historic Re-election

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Sunday congratulated his Ekiti State counterpart, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his re-election, describing the victory as a well-deserved reward for purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ekpen Ahon, Oborevwori praised the landslide victory, which marked the first time a sitting governor in Ekiti State has won a consecutive second term since the return of democracy in 1999.

Landslide Victory Reflects Public Trust

Governor Oborevwori noted that Oyebanji’s victory in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, where he secured 319,224 votes as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reflected the confidence and trust the people of Ekiti have in his administration. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji the winner, and Oborevwori highlighted that the outcome demonstrated the growing acceptance of Oyebanji’s leadership style, which has been widely acknowledged for promoting inclusiveness, development, and political stability in the state.

Unity Within APC Key to Victory

Oborevwori also lauded the unity within the APC in Ekiti State, stating that the support of party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots members contributed significantly to the governor’s overwhelming victory across all 16 local government areas of the state. “Your re-election is a clear endorsement of your administration’s achievements and your commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Ekiti State,” Oborevwori said.

Second Term to Consolidate Development

The Delta governor expressed confidence that Oyebanji’s second term would consolidate ongoing development programmes and further advance the socio-economic growth of the state. Oborevwori’s message underscores the significance of Oyebanji’s re-election as a historic milestone in Ekiti’s political history, breaking a long-standing pattern where no sitting governor had previously secured a consecutive second term.
