Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial district, has honoured the invitation of the Osun State Police Command over his now-viral comment to 'kill Accord' members. He arrived at the Osun police headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, around 2pm on Wednesday, August 12.
Background of the Controversial Remark
While speaking to his APC supporters ahead of Saturday's governorship election in the state, Fadahunsi asked his party members to 'kill' members of the rival Accord Party if seen during the electoral process in some parts of the state. In the video, he said: 'From now on, whenever you see Accord members, k!ll them. I authorise you to k!ll them. They have wives and children too.'
The video of the remark has since elicited outrage on social media, with many condemning the senator's words as inciting violence.
Senator's Denial and AI Allegation
Fadahunsi has since denied the claim, stating that his comment was taken out of context and that the video being circulated is AI-generated. He maintains that he did not make the statement as portrayed.
The senator's arrival at the police headquarters marks a formal response to the invitation extended by the police command, which is investigating the matter.
