Council Chairmen Hail SMA Movement for Supporting APC E-Registration Exercise

The three chairmen of Badagry Local Council and its Local Council Development Areas have expressed their appreciation for the CEO of the Samuel Mawuyon Ajose (SMA) Movement, following his significant support for the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) E-Registration initiative. This commendation highlights a collaborative effort to strengthen party membership processes in the region.

Meeting Highlights Progress and Challenges

Speaking after a meeting with APC chairmen and chieftains at the Badagry Local Council Secretariat in Ajara, Council Chairman Babatunde Hunpe, representing his colleagues, detailed the discussions. The meeting focused on the progress and challenges of the registration process, with a particular emphasis on the intervention by the SMA Movement. According to Hunpe, the purpose was to brief party leaders on the engagement with Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, a native son who has pledged assistance in the e-registration of APC membership cards.

"Ajose has come home to find out the progress of the E-Registration and where he can assist the party. We have explained everything to him, and to the glory of the Lord, he has done perfectly well, even beyond our expectations," Hunpe stated. He added that Ajose has committed to doubling all equipment and personnel currently deployed in the field, addressing areas where the local council faces limitations. "Ajose also promised to help in the area where we have challenges because as a local council, we can’t do it alone," he emphasized.

Substantial Contributions from SMA Movement

Hunpe further praised Ajose for playing a vital role within the party, noting that such contributions are essential for ensuring a smooth registration process for both existing and new members. Dr. Babatunde Mesiwaku, Chairman of the SMA Movement, elaborated on the specific support provided. The movement has supplied 24 brand new printers and 44 brand new tablets to facilitate the exercise across all centers in the three councils.

In addition to equipment, the CEO of SMA has allocated funds for training additional personnel to assist beyond the party's provisions. "In case of chieftains meeting and mobilisation of new and old members for the E-registration, we have also provided funds to ensure respective members get to the centre and back home without any problem," Mesiwaku explained. He assured that this support would be ongoing, contingent on feedback from chairmen and party leaders regarding any lapses.

Background and Broader Impact

Mr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose is recognized as a leading governorship aspirant in Lagos State under the APC platform. The SMA Movement has previously supported initiatives such as the continuous voters registration exercise, aiming to drive party membership in preparation for the 2027 general election. This latest effort underscores a strategic push to enhance digital engagement and grassroots mobilization within the APC, reflecting broader trends in political party operations across Nigeria.
