Tinubu's Proactive Governance is Key, Says RHA Ondo Chairman Olabimtan
Victor Olabimtan, the Chairman of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in Ondo State, has emphasised that a proactive approach to governance is the cornerstone of the Tinubu administration. In a recent interview, he detailed the mission of the RHA, a group aimed at mobilising grassroots support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Bridging the Communication Gap
Olabimtan explained that the RHA was created out of necessity to bridge the communication gap between the Renewed Hope Agenda and its intended beneficiaries. He stressed that the group's core objective is to disseminate honest information from the Federal Government to Nigerians while taking direct feedback from the grassroots back to the authorities. This two-way dialogue is designed to combat misinformation and ensure that all communities are well-informed about government programmes and opportunities.
Grassroots Mobilisation and Outreach
The RHA project involves nationwide initiatives, including town hall meetings, roadshows, market engagements, and faith-based community visits. In Ondo State, Olabimtan noted that the group is using a bottom-up approach to set up local government, ward, and unit chapters. He highlighted the enthusiasm from the public, which has helped restore confidence in the electorate by establishing a practical feedback mechanism between citizens and the government.
Assessment of Tinubu's Performance
Olabimtan praised President Tinubu's performance, citing economic reforms such as the removal of petroleum subsidy and the naira-for-crude policy. He referenced a Quantus economist report analysed on Arise Television, which indicated that these reforms have stabilised the Nigerian economy. The naira-for-crude policy, in particular, is projected to save Nigeria billions of dollars annually and reduce forex expenditure, thereby easing the pain from subsidy removal and making fuel more affordable for Nigerians.
Strategies for 2027 Elections
To mobilise grassroots support for the 2027 elections, the RHA is focusing on reorienting Nigerians about the visible successes of the Tinubu administration. Olabimtan acknowledged that while challenges remain, the government's proactive strategies are yielding positive results. He emphasised that the RHA will engage every group and community to highlight the gains made so far and build on them for future progress.
Addressing Economic Concerns and Internal Party Dynamics
In response to critics of the economic reforms, Olabimtan stated that the RHA is tailored to address these concerns by enlightening the public on how to take advantage of available opportunities. He also addressed internal disagreements within the APC, describing them as agitations for recognition that are being managed through layers of intervention, including a recently inaugurated committee on strategy and conflict resolution led by Governor Mai Bala Buni.
Future Plans and Internal Reforms
Olabimtan expressed confidence in the readiness of the Ondo State RHA for voter engagement and election-day mobilisation, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He noted that the APC is undergoing internal reforms, including online member registration and scheduled congresses, to strengthen party discipline and cohesion, positioning it as the most organised political party in Nigeria.
