The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to making civil servants digitally literate and globally competitive. This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishment and Training, Olubusola Abidakun, during the commencement of a four-day accelerated digital literacy training certification programme for 1,000 public servants.
Training Programme Details
The workshop is a direct response to the ministry's mandate on capacity development. The programme focuses on IC3 certification and META associate level certification, ensuring that the state's workforce is not only digitally literate but also globally competitive. The training will take place at the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Magodo, and will be conducted in four intensive batches from Monday, April 27 to Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Pension Seminar for Retirees
In another development, the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) has urged public servants approaching retirement to ensure timely and accurate documentation. The Director-General of LASPEC, Babalola Obilana, gave this advice during the 30th pre-retirement documentation seminar for prospective retirees in the Lagos State Public Service. Obilana stated that the seminar is part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to prepare workers for a seamless transition from active service into retirement. He noted that many retirees encounter avoidable setbacks due to poor planning and lack of adequate information.
The state's Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, commended LASPEC for sustaining the pre-retirement seminar initiative, describing it as a vital platform for preparing public servants for life after service. Agoro urged participants to take advantage of the seminar, emphasising that early planning remains key to a stress-free retirement.
