President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain committed to the country’s progress, even in the face of criticism, challenges, and differing opinions about governance. He stated that constructive criticism is not only welcome but necessary for leadership and national development, noting that accountability and public scrutiny are essential parts of a functioning democracy.
Constructive Criticism Encouraged
Tinubu emphasized that citizens have every right to question government actions, challenge policies, and demand better performance. However, he cautioned that such criticism should not translate into despair or loss of confidence in the Nigerian project. According to him, people must continue to believe in the possibility of a stronger, more united, and prosperous Nigeria.
Nation-Building Requires Collective Effort
The President highlighted that nation-building requires collective effort from both leaders and citizens. He stressed that progress often comes through difficult decisions, disagreements, and reforms that may not always be immediately popular. Tinubu’s message was also a call for resilience, urging Nigerians not to be discouraged by present challenges but to remain engaged and hopeful about the country’s future direction.
He concluded by reiterating that accountability and public scrutiny are vital for a functioning democracy, and that constructive criticism helps refine governance and policies for the greater good.
