Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has opened up about the circumstances surrounding his removal as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In an interview on AIT, Oshiomhole stated that he was dismissed via a Zoom meeting held at the Aso Rock Villa.
Oshiomhole's Contributions to APC
He emphasized that his hard work was instrumental in Muhammadu Buhari's victory in the 2015 presidential election. However, after the party had stabilized, he was fired through a virtual meeting.
Details of the Sacking
Oshiomhole recounted: “I led my party to victory under Buhari. Together with my colleagues in the National Working Committee (NWC), we successfully resolved the leadership tussle in the National Assembly, both the Senate and the House of Representatives, without difficulty. Our president did not have to travel across the country to engage with stakeholders. We handled the marketing, explanations, persuasion, and all democratic management tools.”
He continued: “Once the system became stable, I was removed via a Zoom call. When people could not oust me through democratic means, they claimed that eight members of my ward signed a petition alleging a vote of no confidence against me. Based on that, they took the matter to court, which granted an interim order. I appealed, and the Court of Appeal quashed the order. However, three weeks later, the same court recalled us and reinstated the order. A few days after that, I witnessed, for the first time, a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting conducted via Zoom at the villa.”
