UNILORIN Alumni Executive Disowns Purported NEC Meeting

The Executive Committee of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association has distanced itself from a purported National Executive Council (NEC) meeting allegedly convened by a group it described as impostors and scheduled to hold at the university campus on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Statement from the Executive Committee

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the association, Dr. Omobolanle Olatunde, the executive committee maintained that the Dr. Stephen Olawale Fasakin-led administration remains the authentic and duly elected leadership of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association and has not called for any NEC meeting.

The association stated that it was necessary to clarify the situation and urged members of the university community and the general public to disregard the purported meeting.

Legal Action Against Illegal NEC

According to the statement, the active Chapter Chairmen of the association have already instituted legal action against what it described as the “illegal NEC” and its promoters in a case currently pending before the court. The statement disclosed that the matter is before the court under Suit No. KWS/41/25 and argued that proceeding with the proposed meeting while the case is pending could amount to contempt of court.

The Dr. Fasakin-led executive reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and expressed confidence in the judiciary to resolve the dispute. “We remain law-abiding and have absolute trust in the judiciary that justice shall be served and offenders punished accordingly,” the statement read.

The executive committee therefore called on alumni members, the University of Ilorin community and the general public to disregard the proposed NEC meeting, insisting that it was neither authorised nor recognised by the duly elected leadership of the association.
