The Muslim Association of Nigeria (MAN) has urged Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to remain steadfast, resilient, and law-abiding in the face of growing insecurity and socio-economic challenges confronting the country.
Eid-el-Adha Message
The association made the call in its Eid-el-Adha message jointly signed by its President, Prof. Dhikrullah Adewale Yagboyaju, and Publicity Secretary, Hon. Mudirakat Ajibona. MAN stated that Eid-el-Adha symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, faith, and total submission to the will of Allah, urging Muslims to reflect the lessons of the season in their daily conduct and relationships with others.
Strengthening Community Bonds
According to the association, the celebration should inspire Nigerians to strengthen family and community bonds, support the vulnerable, and resist hopelessness despite prevailing economic and security difficulties. “The spirit of Eid teaches us that sacrifice without despair produces renewal. Resilience is active trust in Allah coupled with disciplined effort to improve our condition and our society,” the statement read.
Concern Over Rising Crime
The association expressed concern over the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other violent crimes across parts of the country, describing them as grave violations of the sanctity of human life and dignity as upheld in Islam. MAN condemned the activities of criminal elements and urged security agencies to intensify intelligence-driven and lawful operations aimed at bringing perpetrators to justice.
Call for Citizen Cooperation
It also called on citizens to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities capable of threatening public safety. “We further urge the Ummah to adopt the principle of ‘If you see something, say something.’ Timely and factual reporting of suspicious activities to appropriate authorities is both a civic and religious responsibility,” the association stated.
Emphasis on Values and Unity
The group stressed the need for Muslims to uphold honesty, justice, mercy, and responsible citizenship, noting that national development depends largely on the character and values of the people. It added that Nigerians must remain united beyond ethnic, regional, and religious differences in order to build a peaceful and prosperous society.
Prayers for Peace
MAN prayed for peace, healing, and stability in troubled parts of the country, while seeking divine wisdom for leaders and comfort for victims of insecurity. The association also prayed that Allah would accept the sacrifices and acts of worship of Muslim faithful during the Eid celebration.
