Eid-el-Kabir: Cross River, Idahosa, Nwifuru Felicitate Muslims

The Cross River State Government, Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru have extended their congratulations to Muslim faithful, especially those residing in their respective states, on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration. They urged them to uphold the values of sacrifice, tolerance, love, and peaceful coexistence.

Cross River Government's Message

In a statement issued by the Cross River State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, the state government described Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid-el-Adha, as the most significant religious festival in Islam. It serves as a profound reminder of total submission and obedience to the will of Allah.

Dr. Ekpang noted that the celebration commemorates Allah's command to Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of faith and devotion. He emphasized that the festival symbolizes sacrifice, steadfast belief, humility, and complete allegiance to God.

The government encouraged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the exemplary life of Prophet Ibrahim by embracing good character, kindness, patience, perseverance, and devotion to Allah. It further urged Muslim faithful to continue living peacefully with adherents of other religions, stressing that religious tolerance and mutual respect are essential for sustaining peace and unity in society.

Edo Deputy Governor's Appeal

In Edo State, Deputy Governor Idahosa also urged Muslim faithful not to relent in their prayers for Governor Monday Okpebholo, to enable him to sustain the infrastructural development across the state.

In his message of felicitation to Muslims, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor appealed for the sustenance of peace in Edo State. He emphasized that the governor remains committed to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people.

While describing Okpebholo as an exemplary and passionate leader, Idahosa asserted that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.

Ebonyi Governor's Call for Prayer

In the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State acknowledged that the numerous challenges facing the country can be addressed through supplications to Almighty Allah.

Nwifuru, in his message to the Muslim community, urged devotees of Prophet Mohammad to, as a matter of moral urgency, pray to Allah for peace, unity, love, and social cohesion among all Nigerians.
