Tinubu Has Lost Control of Nigeria's Govt, Says Adebayo in 2025 Critique
Adebayo: Tinubu Lost Control of Nigerian Government

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Nigeria's 2023 general elections, has launched a severe critique against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that the President has lost control of his administration.

Security Failures and Government Direction

In a statement released on November 27, 2025, Adebayo pointed to the deteriorating security situation across Nigeria as evidence that President Tinubu has failed in his fundamental duties to protect citizens and govern effectively. The political leader described the current administration as rudderless and lacking strategic direction.

Adebayo emphasized that Nigerians made a significant error in electing Tinubu, noting that the government appears to be constantly reacting to events rather than following a planned trajectory. He stated that from all indications, the administration had lost its roadmap and simply wakes up each day responding to new incidents, whether domestic or international.

No Clear Presidential Trajectory

The SDP leader provided a detailed assessment of the presidency's current state, remarking that "there is no rational observer who would say this is the trajectory of where the Presidency is heading to." He further elaborated that President Tinubu has lost control of his own government, which he hasn't had adequate time to properly assemble since taking office.

Adebayo challenged any government supporters to honestly assess whether the administration's current position in 2025 aligns with where they planned to be when formulating their policies one or two years earlier. This criticism comes amid ongoing security challenges and economic difficulties facing the nation.

Disagreement with Trump's Nigeria Characterization

Despite his strong criticism of the Tinubu administration, Adebayo diverged from United States President Donald Trump's characterization of Nigeria as a "disgraced country." The SDP leader explicitly stated, "I don't agree with President Trump that we are a disgraced country," showing his commitment to defending Nigeria's international reputation even while criticizing its current leadership.

The political figure's comments highlight the growing concerns among opposition parties and citizens about the direction of Nigeria's governance under President Tinubu's administration, particularly regarding security and strategic planning.
