The authentic leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has issued a strong public warning concerning an illegal faction attempting to usurp control of the party.
ADC Leadership Condemns Illegitimate Faction
On Monday, November 17, 2025, the legitimate National Working Committee of the ADC, led by National Chairman Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, formally disowned a group led by former Senate President, Senator David Mark. This faction had recently inaugurated what it called a new national party headquarters.
In an official statement, the party described this action as a blatant and illegal attempt to seize control. The ADC emphasized that its true foundation is built on democracy, integrity, and the rule of law.
Three Key Reasons for the Disavowal
Hon. Gombe outlined three critical points explaining why the Mark-led group holds no legitimate power. He stated that the faction possesses no constitutional, moral, or legal authority to represent the ADC.
The Faction is Illegitimate: The party leadership clarified that Senator David Mark's group is an aggrieved splinter faction. Their actions are a direct result of their failure to subvert the ADC's internal democratic processes for their own personal ambitions.
The Headquarters is Unauthorized: The building being presented as the new national headquarters is not the official seat of the African Democratic Congress. The authentic ADC leadership confirmed it is merely a private facility used by an illegitimate association.
An Anti-Democratic Act: The party labeled this move a desperate and anti-democratic gambit. Its primary goal is to create confusion and mislead the Nigerian public, constituting a direct assault on the will of the party's membership.
