Gombe-led ADC Issues Conditions for Kwankwaso's Potential Party Membership
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, has publicly outlined specific conditions for Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso should he consider joining the party. In a recent statement, the party emphasized its unwavering commitment to democratic principles and the welfare of Nigerian citizens, firmly stating that the ADC is "not for sale" and cannot be commandeered by any faction seeking power for personal enrichment.
Respect Amidst Concerns Over Allegiances
Gombe, who described his faction as the "authentic" leadership of the ADC, expressed respect for Kwankwaso but voiced significant concerns regarding the former presidential candidate's alleged alignment with what the party termed a "coalition of political power mongers." Kwankwaso, a prominent figure previously associated with the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has been accused by the ADC group of associating with individuals who are allegedly attempting to hijack the party for their own political and personal interests.
The statement from Gombe's camp appealed directly to Kwankwaso, urging him to reconsider his political strategy and join the ADC through legitimate and transparent channels. "We are appealing to Kwankwaso to reconsider his political ultimate to join the African Democratic Congress through legitimate due process without aligning with the association of political jobbers who are desperate to acquire power anyhow to continue enriching themselves, family, and their associates," the statement read.

In a pointed message, Gombe advised Kwankwaso to utilize the proper registration channels if his intentions are genuine, hinting at potential hidden agendas if alternative methods are pursued. "Please, Mr. Kwankwaso, if you truly want to join the African Democratic Congress, go to the proper channel of registering, except you have a hidden agenda," the statement continued.
The ADC leadership underscored its dedication to democratic values, criticizing the alleged associates of Kwankwaso for lacking respect for democracy and showing no sympathy for the poor and general public. "Those people you are trying to associate with have no respect for democracy, no sympathy for the poor and the general public, and yet ADC is not for sale, it is for Nigeria and Nigerians," the statement concluded, reinforcing the party's stance as a platform dedicated to national interests rather than personal gain.
