Grassroots mobilizer and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kelly Agbaba has asserted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi can work together despite allegations during the ADC presidential primaries. Agbaba, who serves as coordinator of the Citizens Coalition, stated that the current challenges facing Nigeria have created a binding code for serious leaders like Atiku and Amaechi to collaborate.
Nigeria's Crisis as a Unifying Force
Agbaba emphasized that hunger and insecurity do not discriminate based on political affiliation. He argued that these issues transcend party lines, making it imperative for experienced politicians to set aside differences. "Hunger doesn't ask if you are Atiku or Amaechi. Insecurity doesn't check party history before it strikes," he said during an exclusive interview with Legit.ng. He added, "The nation is in a quagmire, and you don't rescue a drowning nation by fighting over the boat."
Experience and Willpower: The Winning Combination
According to Agbaba, Atiku brings extensive experience in economic matters, private sector development, job creation, and restructuring. Amaechi, on the other hand, offers the willpower and track record of execution. "Put Atiku's vision together with Amaechi's execution, and you have the combination to pull Nigeria out of this quagmire. One can design the blueprint, the other can supervise the workers," Agbaba explained.
Agbaba described Amaechi as a strategist who has managed national power, moved the rail sector, and understands the cost of governance. He characterized Atiku as a composed political veteran who has run for president six times without losing composure, possessing unparalleled knowledge of Nigeria's fault lines.
Amaechi's Position on ADC Ticket
Recall that Amaechi clarified he had not been offered the ADC vice presidential ticket and had consulted before rejecting the outcome of the ADC presidential primary election results. He contested for the ADC presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections but lost to Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku Visits Amaechi After Heated Primary
In a related development, Atiku sparked reactions after visiting Amaechi following the heated ADC presidential primary. The former vice president visited Amaechi after defeating him and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen for the party's ticket. Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen have yet to congratulate Atiku on his victory.
