Bauchi APC Caucus Clears Path for Governor Bala Mohammed's Defection

The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken decisive steps to facilitate the planned defection of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This development emerged after a crucial meeting between the Bauchi State APC Caucus and Governor Mohammed at his Abuja residence on Wednesday, April 9, 2026.

Resolving Defection Concerns Through Dialogue

In response to concerns among stakeholders regarding the governor's potential move, the APC caucus had previously established a committee to address the issues surrounding his defection. Following extensive consultations, an amicable resolution was reached, paving the way for a smooth transition. The caucus emphasized that the discussions were productive and focused on ensuring political stability in the state.

Confirmation from APC Leadership

Dabo Isma'il, Secretary of the Bauchi State APC Caucus and member representing Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, confirmed the details at a stakeholders' meeting held yesterday. He stated, "We, as APC members in the state, have been meeting. Yesterday, we met with His Excellency, the Governor of Bauchi State, after our caucus meeting at Transcorp Hilton. He invited us and briefed us on developments from his side. We had a fruitful engagement with him." This statement underscores the collaborative efforts to integrate Governor Mohammed into the APC fold.
