Afrobeats superstar Davido has assumed a frontline political role as Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council to lead the re-election bid of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

Governor Adeleke announced the appointment, describing Davido as a formidable youth mobiliser whose widespread influence is expected to deepen grassroots engagement across the state. He noted that his administration's youth-focused policies align with the singer's appeal, making his involvement a strategic advantage for the campaign.

Explaining his decision, Davido said his commitment goes beyond family ties, expressing confidence in the governor's performance and vision for the future. He disclosed that he has temporarily stepped away from music for two months to fully dedicate himself to the campaign.
