Afrobeats superstar Davido has assumed a frontline political role as Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council to lead the re-election bid of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

Governor Adeleke announced the appointment, describing Davido as a formidable youth mobiliser whose widespread influence is expected to deepen grassroots engagement across the state. He noted that his administration's youth-focused policies align with the singer's appeal, making his involvement a strategic advantage for the campaign.
Davido's Commitment
Explaining his decision, Davido said his commitment goes beyond family ties, expressing confidence in the governor's performance and vision for the future. He disclosed that he has temporarily stepped away from music for two months to fully dedicate himself to the campaign.
“I’m here not just because he’s family, but because he’s doing a good job and still has more to achieve,” he said.
Youth Mobilisation Focus
The award-winning artist emphasised that youth mobilisation remains critical to electoral success, urging campaign members to highlight the administration's impact on young people throughout the state. He also charged the team to intensify grassroots outreach, advocating door-to-door engagement across all local government areas to communicate both achievements and plans.
