Kogi East Youths Warn Gov Ododo Against Third-Term Agenda

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has been urged by Kogi East youth stakeholders not to support any alleged third-term agenda reportedly being promoted by Senator Jibrin Isah, representing Kogi East. The stakeholders warned that reinforcing failure could negatively affect the fortunes of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region.

Stakeholders Voice Concerns in Anyigba

Speaking during a stakeholders' gathering in Anyigba, Kogi State, the President of Kogi East Youth Stakeholders, Ahmed Labaran, stated that recycling politicians who are inaccessible and not people-oriented would only create setbacks for the party. He maintained that leaders who are disconnected from the grassroots should not be imposed on the people.

Call for Transparent Primaries

The group further advised Governor Ododo not to allow individuals outside Kogi State to dictate the political direction of the state. They stressed that the only acceptable democratic process is to allow party members and the people to freely choose their preferred candidate through a transparent and credible primary election. According to the stakeholders, loyal party members who have consistently contributed to the growth and activities of the party over the years should be given the opportunity to contest, rather than imposing total strangers on the people.

Support from Other Groups

Also speaking, Okeme Muhammad, leader of the FAWWAS FOR MEN Organization, agreed with the position of the group. He emphasized that the mandate should be entrusted to a committed and dedicated party individual who understands the aspirations of the people and has remained loyal to the party structure.

Warning Against Undermining Internal Democracy

The stakeholders strongly warned that any attempt to impose unpopular candidates or support actions capable of undermining internal democracy could jeopardize the chances of the APC in Kogi East. They called on Governor Ododo to prioritize the will of the people and ensure a fair democratic process.
