PDP Chieftain Alleges APC Vote Buying in Ekiti Election

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Omoyajowo Samson, has alleged that supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) distributed between ₦15,000 and ₦20,000 to voters during the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday, June 20, 2026. According to Omoyajowo, the PDP did not give any money to voters yet still won by a wide margin in his polling unit.

Video Goes Viral as Omoyajowo Speaks Out

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Omoyajowo expressed his happiness over the PDP's victory without resorting to vote buying. He said, "I am so happy because the PDP didn't even give one naira, while those in the APC shared ₦15,000 and ₦20,000 to the people. Without sharing a kobo, you can see the massive margin. Imagine if we had shared money."

Omoyajowo Urges Nigerians to Reject Vote-Buying

Omoyajowo advised Nigerians to put an end to the practice of sharing money for votes and allow citizens to vote for candidates of their choice. He stated, "So, I want to advise Nigerians to put an end to this money-sharing practice. Let us start voting for the candidates our hearts truly choose. If not for the money these ones were sharing to canvass on the vote line, they won't even get that many votes. Thank you."
