Queen Chinyere Tim-Opurum Joins APC, Declares Ambition for NINN Federal Constituency in 2027

In a significant political development, Queen Chinyere Tim-Opurum has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) at her Dim-Na Nume Isu ward in Nwangele Council, Imo State. The event, held on April 2, 2026, attracted a large gathering of party leaders, stalwarts, and stakeholders from across the local government, who warmly welcomed her into the APC fold.

Commitment to Representation and Development

During her remarks, Queen Tim-Opurum, affectionately known as Opuruiche Nwanyi, expressed her dedication to addressing the representation gap within the Nkwerre/Isu/Nwangele/Njaba (NINN) Federal Constituency. She outlined her plans to empower youths, enhance grassroots development, and ensure that the dividends of democracy are effectively delivered to the people. "I am committed to bridging the gap and bringing tangible benefits to our communities," she stated.

Support from Party and Local Leaders

The newly elected Chairman of Nwangele APC, Paschal Iwuala, assured Queen Tim-Opurum of inclusivity in party programmes and encouraged her to actively engage in its affairs. Similarly, Chairman of Nwangele Council, Chief Paul Duru, urged her to remain resilient and loyal, drawing from his own decades-long political journey as an example of patience and perseverance. "Your entry into the APC is a boost for our party, and we look forward to your contributions," said Iwuala.

Aligning with Renewed Hope Agenda

Queen Tim-Opurum thanked the APC leadership for the warm reception and pledged her support for the party from the ward to constituency level. She aligned herself with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing her track record as a community leader. She highlighted past initiatives, including:

  • Providing modern farming tools to local farmers.
  • Awarding scholarships to students in need.
  • Offering seed capital to small business owners to boost entrepreneurship.

She vowed to consolidate these efforts and expand them if given the mandate to serve in the 2027 general elections.

Grassroots Mobilization and Traditional Blessings

The event was marked by jubilant songs from youths and women groups, who pledged to mobilize grassroots support for her aspiration. A symbolic highpoint occurred when the Council of Nwangele Traditional Rulers, led by His Royal Highness Eze Uzomah Onunenyi (Ekiti II of Ekitiafor Abba), performed traditional rites. These included washing her feet, pouring libations for divine protection, and blessing her ambition to represent the constituency. "This traditional blessing signifies our collective hope for her success," remarked a community elder.

As Queen Chinyere Tim-Opurum embarks on this new political journey, her entry into the APC is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party's presence in Imo State and advance her vision for the NINN Federal Constituency.
